Introduction
Classrooms across Africa and the wider world are changing fast. More and more teachers are hearing about artificial intelligence, and many of their students are already using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot, sometimes without the teacher even knowing. For a teacher standing at the front of a classroom in Lagos, Accra, Nairobi, Kampala, or Harare, the question is no longer whether AI will enter the classroom. The question is how to guide its use wisely so that students learn better rather than simply doing less thinking for themselves.
