Introduction
Every journey that has been worth making ends with the traveller standing at a threshold, looking back at the ground covered and forward at the territory still to be explored. This book has been such a journey. It began with the simple but urgent observation that too many learners in African classrooms were not receiving the quality of teaching they deserved, not because their teachers lacked dedication, and not because the learners themselves lacked ability, but because the methods being used were not speaking the right language.
