Introduction
This chapter tells the story of why and how the Culturo-Techno-Contextual Artificial Intelligence Pedagogy, known as CTCAI, was developed. It begins by looking at what the Culturo-Techno-Contextual Approach (CTCA) is, how well it has worked in African classrooms over many years, and why the arrival of artificial intelligence (AI) in schools made it necessary to update this approach. The chapter explains, in plain terms, what CTCAI is, what problem it solves, and why every teacher who already uses CTCA, or who is just starting out in the classroom, needs to understand the thinking behind this new development. By the end of this chapter, readers will see clearly that CTCAI is not a replacement for CTCA. Rather, it is a careful and thoughtful extension of CTCA that brings the power of AI into the classroom while keeping the teacher and the student firmly in charge of the learning process.
