Introduction
There is something deeply human about the way a grandmother in Ibadan can explain the movement of stars through the story of a hunter who lost his way home, or how a teacher in Kampala can make fractions meaningful by dividing a bunch of plantains equally among the children sitting before her. These moments capture what it means to teach well: connecting new knowledge to the known world of the learner. This chapter is about how that very principle, the principle of cultural contextualisation, can now be supported and enriched by the tools of artificial intelligence. We call this approach AI-supported cultural contextualisation of learning, and it sits at the heart of the Culturo-Techno-Contextual Artificial Intelligence Pedagogy, known as CTCAI.
