chapter-7

Introduction

Every great teaching method has a story. Behind the method is a person who observed a problem, thought carefully about it, and worked over many years to find a solution. The story of the Culturo-Techno-Contextual Approach, commonly known by its short name CTCA, is one such story. It is a story that began in African classrooms, grew through decades of patient research, and eventually produced a teaching framework that has been used in Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, and several other African countries, as well as in other parts of the world. Understanding where CTCA came from and how it changed over time helps teachers to use it with greater confidence and deeper understanding.
